  Hi Joseph, It’s amazing when you look at the development of clothes washing: by hand, using simple tools, then basic washing machines, now wash&dry, and the next may be something similar to what @Mahnaz mentioned. I would reverse the problem and think of a substance to enrich the fiber, such that clothes would last clean and odour-free for longer. Less frequent wash = less water and less energy = more sustainable!
