Good question! Being an engineer means you have fairly flexible hours, so it depends on the kind of work you’re doing. Normally I work from about 9am to 6pm, but if I’m making progress with a project I might work later and then finish earlier the next day. It sounds like a long day but can be really enjoyable when you’re doing a mixture of different things. Being an engineer is never boring!

It depends! One of the best things about being an engineer is that employers usually understand that some days you need to work longer on a project, and other days you are free to leave a bit earlier.

When I was doing one of my largest projects, I worked for 13 hours one day on the verge if a breakthrough. However I only had to work a half day after that. It averages out about 8 hours, which is a normal amount of time
