The most difficult project I have EVER worked on was last year, where I was designing new lasers and circuits for a telecommunications company. There was supposed to be 4 of us working on the project together, but one person had to drop out at the last minute. To make matters worse…we had a really tight deadline of 1 year to get the project finished! There were a lot of late nights and working weekends, but we just about got it done on time! To make up for having one less person, the three of us had to learn lots of new skills and do different parts of the project that we weren’t expecting. It was a good experience because I got to work on things that I don’t usually do…but it was stressful! Luckily that project is over and things are back to normal now.
Taking part in the design, build and test of a simple car. There are many people involved and many little things we have to get right, and the hardest part is bringing it all together.
My final year design project. There were 4 of us in my group and we all wanted to do well – this project was worth 30% of our degrees!
We had a few strong personalities in the group and others worked much harder than some. I learned a lot about managing conflict!
Before the project, none of us knew anything about hydraulic fracturing so to become a technical expert in 3 months wasn’t easy!
