I think my favourite invention ever is the internet! I don’t think anything has revolutionised the world quite like it (well, maybe electricity). We use it for communication, learning, buying/selling, research and entertainment. It plays a huge part in how we live our every days lives and it would be hard to imagine a world without it now!

Also, if there was no internet you wouldn’t be able to take part in “I’m an Engineer” and read all our answers to your questions!

I love the telephone – it still blows my mind that you can speak to someone in Australia as though they were in the next room.

The aeroplane. Not just because I love aeroplanes and flying, but because of the way it was invented. The Wright Brothers were geniuses! They had a way of breaking a very tough problem down into simple steps.

The computer and everything that goes with it. My job would take a lot longer than without one, and we wouldn’t have a fraction of the capability we have now without it.

Computers are using in almost everything – the cars we drive, the medicine we make and growing the food we eat. They can calculate algorithms in milliseconds that would take us weeks to do.
