The challenge and sense of achievement motivate me more. Money isn’t a great motivator and there are many studies to support this. Of course I like getting paid but when I come in in the morning it is not something that I think about, I think of what can I achieve today? How can I make flying safer or more secure today?

      Hi Tomás
My motivation is kind of a mixture of B and C. I really enjoy the challenge of making/designing new inventions, but if it isn’t going to help other people or be useful it doesn’t really interest me. I think that’s why I like the job I’m in at the minute, where I’m designing optical components for the telecommunications industry. The work is really challenging, especially when you’re making something new that has never been done before. The lasers and optics I design has the potential to help people communicate all around world by using faster and more efficient internet, which I think is a worthwhile cause!

I know the answer should be C, but for me the truth is B then C then A!

But when I’m teaching the answer is C – I want my students to understand the subject and be enthusiastic about it.
