Hey Deco
I was working on one project for about 12 months to invent a new laser modulator, it was really intense work. There were 3 engineers trying to do the work of 4 so we were under a lot of pressure! It was by far the longest project I’ve ever been on.
In my job I don’t make or invent things. I do 2 things. I make sure that the pilots, enginneers, airports and airlines operate to the rules – there are books and books of rules to keep us safe and secure. I also look at data for patterns to see if there are things happening across the system that could lead to an airacrft crash. When we find these we develop a plan to have then fixed.
I spent a year trying to get the chocolate crystals in Cadbury perfect. This is a Process called tempering. You heat it up to dissolve the fat crystals, then cool it down at a certain temperature to get the right size crystals. It was very precise work and I had to learn a lot before I understood the process. I also spent most of my days covered head to toe in chocolate which I probably enjoyed more than I should have!
