I am a chemical engineer. Chemical engineers deal with chemical processes such as refining fuel, producing medicine and food.

As with all engineers, the most important skill a chemical engineer has is applying their knowledge to solve complex problems. So you can find chemical engineers working almost anywhere!

I’m an electronic engineer, so I know a lot about designing and building electronic circuits. These circuits make up a huge amount of the things you use every day, like your phone, computer, microwave, and the internet. They are also used in a lot of other areas you might not know about, such as in cars and airplanes, or fire and burglar alarms.

I’m a mechanical engineer. Mechanical engineers deal with everything that moves, so we design and operate all kinds of machines. Cars, disk drives, factory equipment – if it has moving parts, or involves heat or moving fluids, mechanical engineers are involved.

Engineers can move around in their careers and grow into different areas, with training and experience. Mechanical engineering is relevant to many kinds of medical devices, so I’ve learned some biomedical engineering as I went along.

I’m an optical engineer so I study how to make light and do interesting things with it. Usually this involves designing lasers since they are highly stable and powerful compared to ordinary light sources likes bulbs of LEDs. One of the main applications of the lasers I design is in the telecommunications industry, where they are used to improve internet speeds all over the world!
