Not cars as we know them because you have to be able to generate lift in order to fly. in places like Australia and Alaska people use small aircraft like we use cars to go about their daily business because of the vastness of the areas and lack of roads.

There actually have been some flying cars – they’re easy to find on the However, in my opinion, they’re a bit of fun, not practical vehicles. Cars are complex. Aeroplanes and flying are much more complex. If you try to mix the two, you have to make compromises in design, and the result can’t be a good car or a good aeroplane.

      Hi Lee,

As Sinead and Nathan said, flying cars actually do exist – they are called aeroplanes!

100 years ago, it was very unusual for people to have their own cars. Nowadays most people have cars.

The same might happen with planes. As they get less expensive and the infrastructure around them improves (this means the roads and traffic systems) everyone will have one! They will come in different shapes and sizes, just like a car now.

The only thing that will stop this happening is if someone invents something much better – like instanteous portal travel – before flying cars become popular!
