  It is indeed. Being an engineer is mostly about problem solving whereas being a lecturer was mainly concerned with breaking complex information down so that students could understand it and develop their knowledge of an area. Most of the problems I solve as an engineer don’t just end once I figure them out, they tend to have commercial or contractual implications. Therefore I need to interact with no-engineers such as lawyers and business experts on these technical issues. My lecturing skills are useful in conveying this complex information to them.
  Engineering is all about adaptability. You need to be strong at many different things – but that is what makes it exciting and enjoyable too!
