Yes.. I am an electrical engineer and converting ocean energy into electricity is what i do. I have recently written a book on it.. if you google me and Ocean Energy Electrical Design you will find it.

I didn’t make anything per say, but I am training in the NCC (that’s the national control centre where the engineers ask the generation stations to produce electricity to meet demand on a real time basis). I guess you could say that while working there, I’ve produced electricity!
I’ve also written a number of models to study the effects of electricity and have published technical papers on the subject. I’m also proposing a Grid Code clause (basically a law) for the quality of power on the transmission system.

I made a solar powered phone charging bank on a project, so the energy from the sun is converted into electricity that then could be used to charge mobile phones.

I make solar cells that mimic the process of photosynthesis, dye-sensitised solar cells. They are pretty awesome because you don’t need direct sunlight on them, so they work indoors and in Ireland! The traditional types of solar cells are made of silicon and are semiconductors. Mine are chemical, so like a plant has chlorophyll, my cells have have a dye (usually ruthenium). They both absorb sunlight and a chemical reaction takes place where for the solar cell a current is produced.

I have been working in the electricity generation industry in Ireland for more than ten years. I have helped developing wind farms. I also worked in a power station where I was involved in maintenance and operations.
