I’ve met famous people but they are usually famous scientist or engineers like Professor Dame Jocelyn Bell-Burnell. She was the first person to discovered the first radio pulsars when she was a postgraduate student. At the time they didn’t know what the strange radio signals were so it was joked that it was LGM – Little Green Men! Pulsars are rapidly spinning neutron stars that emits radiation as intense beams from the pulsar’s magnetic poles. Unfortunately she was excluded from the Nobel Prize in Physics when her work was awarded, her supervisor shared the award. She is a really lovely person.

I’ve also met two astronauts too, Chris Hadfield and Dr. Mae Jemison. I thought it was so cool that they’ve been to space and lived there for a bit. I was a little bit jealous.

Yeah lots, I gave a talk at the web summit “after-party” last week and the guy who invented Hailo was on after me. The Taoiseach was also there. Does he count?

I met Enda Kenny (Taoiseach) if he counts when I was up for an award a couple of years ago. Although he is from Mayo as well, so could meet him anywhere! I met Richard Branson who was super friendly and Michael O’Leary (Ryanair) as well, but it was in relation to business stuff then engineering.

Outside of work I met Justin Timberlake in an airport in LA once!
