The Harmonics project that I’m currently working on. As more underground cables connect to the power system, issues may arise where the quality of the power is distorted. I’m looking at ways to ensure that all users of the system can enjoy a clean power supply. This can be tricky as every tv, laptop etc can add additional currents to the system and interact with other devices. Its challenging but interesting.

The last project that just finished up was pretty interesting. It was testing different energy solutions in schools in Europe, and we had some great results and learned a lot along the way!

At one stage I got to work with horses! We were asked to build a prototype for someone who had an idea. It worked out and they formed a company. I still ask my boss for a pony, I plead that it’s for science but no, he won’t buy me one.

I have been very lucky to work on many projects with great people. They each have brought different highlights and achievements. For example I recently wrote a book.. Never thought I would ever do that. I also just started a company… Again I didnt think I would do that but engineering career has given me all the skills.

The most recent project that I did that had a bit of everything is the EU CORES project in my profile page. That took 3 years to design and deploy a wave energy device in Galway bay.
