Its pretty intense. You have to sit for a full shift (up to 10 hours) and ultimately the entire electricity system of Ireland is in your hands. (Well theres two people in the room). One side is in charge of generation and matches the power produced with the loads in factories and peoples homes etc. The other side controls how the power flows around the system. This is what I’m training for. It takes time and study to be certified as a NCC grid controller but you feel awesome everytime you walk into the room and take charge.
I got to visit the NCC and that room is like something from the movies. It’s a huge responsibility. You have a pretty cool job John, I’m quite envious 😀
