I didn’t really fancy a lifetime working on the family farm, milking cows etc.
I always fancied myself as someone able to make things to improve farming etc and thought engineering is the best way to do that.
I didn’t really expect to go into lasers and I certainly didn’t expect to move from the really small devices to the really large power system equipment but life sometimes throws cool opportunities your way.
Ultimately engineering is about being able to solve problems, whatever they are, big or small.
I didn’t know any engineers when I was picking my subjects, I basically found engineering by eliminating the subjects I didn’t like. Not the smartest move. I stayed with it because I love making things.
