I like reading science fiction and watching sci-fi movies. I am also a great fan of music, liking bands and singers from way back in the 1970s, to modern bands. I did play in a band some years ago, as a drummer. I still bang the drums in the attic from time to time.

I also like outdoor activities, such as hill-walking, rock climbing, and my current favourite: Orienteering!

My Work: Figuring out better ways to make safer computer programs for spacecraft, airplanes, and robots.

Computers are used to control a lot of moving and flying machines. A lot of work is done to ensure the computer programs are safe. My research looks at using mathematics to make it easier to do this.
My Typical Day: I wake up, walk the dog, have breakfast and then cycle into College. Some of the time I do teaching, and the rest I spend doing my research.
What I'd do with the money: I'd use it to fund school visits. I'd like to explain how there are many different engineering skills needed for Space - it's not just Rocket Science!
