Hi Emma,
the problem with the Great Barrier Reef is that it is bleaching. This is because the water is warming too much and the corals are not able to survive at that temperature. ALso corals are suffering because the levels of acidity in the ocean is increasing, so it eats away at the coral. There is no easy solution. We have to slow down global warming. We can do that only by reducing or eliminating the amound of carbon dioxide, methane and other greenhouse gases we put in the atmosphere. So we need to develop renewable energy – like wave, wind, solar and we have to stop cutting down forests. These absorb loads of carbon dioxide. Cows are responsible for emitting a lot of methane, so we need to lookat cmodifying their diet to reduce the amount of methane. We can only do this together if all countries work on it. Last year in Paris, countries agreed to try and solve the problem – so fingers crossed
Great Question I read a National Geographic magazine and I saw that even David Attenborough went down there !It said that scientists are currently finding ways to help it.
