Well we do a number of things. We keep a catalogue of all ships used for research in Europe and all their details – size , types of equipment, lab facilities, number of berths etc. In Ireland there are 3 research vessels. we also have lists of labs and other equipment used for marine research. Another database lists more than 6000 research projects that studied oceans and seas . This is useful so researchers can find out who does what and can link up with them more easily. We also make videos newsletters brochures and websites telling people about the ocean. Next week I am going to a school here in lisbon to talk about the problem of litter in the ocean
