Earth is my favourite planet without a doubt. It is where we live and it is a facinating place. I believe it is important that we do our best to look after it, and I try to do that through my work where we use satellite photographs to unnderstand better how it works and how we can use it in a better way. We have loads of resources here, but they are finite, so we need to think up smarter ways of using them and making sure there is enough there for future generations.
My favourite planet is without a doubt Mars. No other planet comes close to igniting the imagination of generations and producing stories, movies and the hope that we will one day leave earth and actually become a multi planet species, which in my opinion is the most important thing we could do for our species.
Obviously I am a big fan of Earth 😉 I have a soft spot for Pluto though, so far away, so small and then somebody somewhere decided well actually you are not a planet… Poor Pluto, I bet if we got to know Pluto a bit more, it would be really fascinating 🙂
My favourite planet is Saturn for many reasons. It’s a gas giant which makes it curious because it is so different to the rocky planet we live on. It has the most beautiful rings in the solar system which can be seen from Earth – rings made of dust and ice which are in some cases miniscule in size, in others with ice rocks the size of houses, and yet all reflect the suns light (just like a comet’s tail). Each of the planets are amazing, but I’m always left in Awe by Saturn.
I would have to say Saturn because I remember that it was the first planet I wanted to know more about- I think it was because of Saturns rings. And then when I saw for the first time a picture of Earth from a distance, it became by far my favourite planet. It is so beautiful, I really do hope that one day I will get a chance to see the whole planet from a distance, that beautiful shade of blue.
