There are so many different types of engineer but to give a few examples of what an engineer can do:
A design engineer creates drawings of the design for the technicians who build the different parts to follow.
A thermal engineer works out what effect different temperatures will have on the spacecraft.
A mechanical analysis engineer makes sure the spaceship will survive the launch.
If there is a particular type of engineering you are interested in I can try and give you some details of what they do 🙂
