Great question. I suppose we’ll all have different goals. For me, I just want to find out more about what’s in space. In turn, I think we’re finding out more about our past and our future, which I think is pretty cool. At a higher level, I think the goal of an engineer is to face a challenge head on and develop solutions.
My goals are general (like using Science and Maths to make the world better).
But that’s too vague, and not very practical.
In practice, I like trying to work out solutions to specific, tricky problems. When I hear about a problem I start thinking “How could we solve that? Or avoid it? Or make something better?”
That then becomes my goal.
I may be working on a few projects at the same time, and sometimes you think of a solution to one problem when you are working on something else.
