The short answer is: it takes a long, long time.
How long does it take to go anywhere: to school, on holidays, to visit your relatives?
It depends on two things: how far do you need to go? and how fast do you go?
Well in Space the distances are usually very big.

Satellites go around the Earth, a few 100 kilometers up above the Earth’s surface.
It’s a long way around the whole Earth, but they are going very fast, so they can do it in about an hour.
If you want to go to the Moon, it would take a few days to get there, even going fast.
If you want to go to Mars (the closest planet), it will take a few months.
If you want to go to other Planets, we’re talking years.

Rockets can get up to space in about 8 min and from there it depend where they are going. The moon is about 240,000 miles away. If you want to land on the moon (like the Apollo 11 mission) it takes about 3 days to get there.

It depends on where you’re going! But as the guys said, it takes a long time.
