I’m delighted to say I’ve only ever had a fantastic experience as a woman in physics. Whilst we are a minority a lot of the time, within the UCD Space Science group where I work, and within the EIRSAT-1 team, there is great gender balance. I have never felt that being a female made a difference to my work. I do talks and blogs to show school students that a career in physics or engineering is for anyone, regardless of gender, race or background, because it’s true! Anyone can be an engineer, if they work hard enough. And it seems the gender imbalance is getting better as there are more diverse role models for people to look up to.
