I have never felt that being a female impacted how people saw me as a physicist or physics student. The truth is that anyone can be an engineer or scientist, regardless of gender, race or background. I’ lucky that within the UCD Space Science group where I work, and within the EIRSAT-1 team, we have fantastic gender balance. The team works well because we are all dedicated and we all have our own strengths – it doesn’t matter if you’re male or female, just that you are determined and enthusiastic! I think this was the feeling throughout my undergraduate degree in UCD also – I never felt bias – I only ever felt that my hard work would get me to where I want to go. And I want to show school students that it doesn’t matter who you are, as long as you work hard at what you love, you’ll succeed!
