I have only worked on one satellite so far, Ireland’s first satellite EIRSAT-1. It’s a pretty cool one! It’s got a miniature gamma ray detector to detect dying stars in space, and will fly thermal coatings developed by Irish company ENBIO for testing in space. It’ll also test an algorithm developed in UCD for controlling the satellites direction in space. Lots of cool science going on, and the data will get sent to our ground station in UCD. It’s a cool project because we’re students, so we’re only learning about how to work on satellites, and because we are supported by the European Space Agency’s Fly Your Satellite! Programme.
