  Ok here are a few in categories.
  
  Best fiction:
  1984 (George Orwell) or The Road (Cormac McCarthey)
  
  Best Popular Science:
  Genesis machines (Martin Amos – not many people have read this – all about how DNA can be used inside computers – blew my mind when I read it in College!)
  
  Best sci-fi:
  I-Robot (Issac Assimov – note: nothing to do with Will Smith movie)
  
  Best classic novel:
  Frankenstein (Dracula close second)
  
  Favourite play:
  Sweet Bird of Youth (Tennesse Williams)

My favorite books are the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wheel_of_Time
I think these books caused me to get lower points in my leaving cert. I was mad into reading them in school .
