That really depends on the day. Sometimes I really like what I am doing and I do not want to stop in which case I spend much longer in the office than expected. There are other days when I recognize that I am not productive at all. In these cases the day can be a little shorter than the normal work day. That is really nice about the freedom than I enjoy as a PhD student.
Hiya, I work 7.5 hours most days. Sometimes I work a bit longer to catch up when I’m busy… Or because the office is nice and quiet when most are gone home. Sometimes I don’t realise the time passing! If I work extra during the week I can leave earlier on a Friday which is sweet 🙂
I usually work 7 days a week and around 8-15 hours a day. Today was a busy day – I got up at 6am to do the live chat (I’m in Brazil so there is a time difference). Its now 1am and I’ve taken maybe 2 hrs in breaks today. I need to be up in less than 5 hours to start work again. Very few people work as long or as hard as I do. I know I have will have the opportunity over the next few years to make my dreams become a reality – and working hard helps ensure that when opportunities arise, I’ll be ready.
Yes – I get tired all the time – I’m tired now. But being tired doesn’t mean I want to stop what I’m doing. I see it like a football player – even if I’m tired, I want to finish the game.
I am the team lead so my hours are very flexible. I try to do work for 7 hours a day. Most days I start at 10am and work until 6pm . I try and work from home a day a week if the weather is looking too bad or its a Monday :).
