Let me give you two answers:
Tool:
Probably a machine that can 3D print a metal such as titanium. 3D printers are great but the majority can only print in plastic which is really limited. Being able to make something like this would be amazing!
Piece of equipment:
I’m very interested in computer hardware that is inspired by biology. There is this amazing camera system that some guys in Zurich developed that displays movement only – it works like a frogs eye if memory serves.
This is really useful as it automatically filters useless information that would otherwise be displayed (think about how much information your eye takes in that it doesnt need? Making robots perceive the world – this information overload is a big problem) . I would love one of these cameras.
