Hey. The first robot I built was a kit robot. I bought a book that recommended this particular kit. It was a simple hexapod robot that trundled around – it wasnt very interesting.
The first robot I designed by myself was a sumo robot. It was designed to play robot-sumo, basically sumo wrestling for robots. Looking back, I didn’t really have any idea what I was doing! It was fun and I was learning so much that I didn’t really care how good it was. In the end if failed pretty spectacularly. Like I’ve said a bunch of times in this forum, there’s no shame in trying something and it not working out.
The first robot I ever made was a line following one. It’s how I met Conor for the first time at the Robot Challenge in Vienna. It was so bad. It was crazy slow. It ended up coming 52 place. 🙁
