Hiya,
I didn’t decide until I was filling out my CAO form! I knew I liked computers and making websites so I put Computer Science down as my first option.
I knew I wanted to be an engineer from about 2nd year. I was not sure which type of engineering right up until the CAO deadline. There are loads of general engineering courses if you are unsure what type is for you.
Hard to tell. I knew from a very early age I really liked engines and mechanisms. My very first project in national school was on cars – it was really technical and my teacher didnt know how to correct it! Haha. I got obsessed then with cars and worked as an apprentice during summers in secondary school. Choosing engineering was a no-brainer – but I choose to do it in Trinity pretty much only because I was offered a rugby scholarship. When studying in Trinity, I built my first robot. Pretty much from that point on, its all Ive wanted to do.
I decided very early that I wanted to do something related to technology. So maybe around the age of 14 I was going to become an engineer of some kind.
