A hack is a quick solution to a problem. I find solutions. A hacker is not like they are shown in movies, we are not out stealing card details or emptying peoples bank accounts :).
For example, I found an old LED sign on ebay. It came with no manual or no instructions. I hacked the hardware to find out how it works and figured out how to make it work with new code.
