I attended college to become an engineer. I had some previous experience, but I did not have all of the extra information. College gave me the information to understand the science behind engineering, the physics of how things move.
At that time there was not an alternative option to become an engineer. It is possible now to go through an Apprenticeship program. These programs have a more practical, hands on approach.
I did not think it was hard, but if you are really interested in something and you really really like the subject, then it would never be too hard. It sometimes happens that you think something is too difficult and once you get stuck in and have a go, you realise its not. Its all about trying something before you make your mind up. Being interested, do you like to solve problems or ask extra questions….that’s what being an engineer is all about.
