Robert Dowdall answered on 12 Mar 2017:

To make our fuel, we heat up the plants (Biomass) in an atmosphere without oxygen. This prevents it from burning. The process is similar to how charcoal is produced but is much more efficient and less expensive. The biomass is heated up to 300 degrees Celsius for up to 1 hour maximum. This causes a number of natural reactions to happen which convert the biomass into a high carbon fuel similar to coal.
