• Question: List the 5 most important things you do as an engineer

      This is a tricky question. The 5 most important things that I do are:
      1) Creative thinking & innovation to solve difficult problems
      2) Analysis – to find out how well those creative solutions actually work and might cost.
      3) Design – to make sure that those solutions actually work and are designed well for the real world. This means all the materials need to be suitable and not too expensive.
      4) Prototyping – to build and test solutions in as cheap a way as possible which allows me to learn more about what the final solution should be.
      5) Safety – making sure that everything I do will not hurt anybody and is safe for the public.
