Electrical energy is sent through electrical cables, through a electricity supply company that ensures every house has an electrical connection.
Gas is sent to homes also through pipelines, and a transmission network that ensures that the gas is delivered to the house.
In addition, a lot of houses in Ireland still use oil which has to be delivered to houses by truck and then stored in a tank. Or solid fuel such as coal, peat and wood can be bought in most big supermarkets during the winter months.
At the very beginning (stone age) people used fire as a form of energy (lighting, heating ,cooking etc). However it as in 1820’s that an english scientist called michael faraday developed the principles of eletcricity generation and formed the principles of an electric motor, the principles of which are still use din modern electricity generation.
In the late 1800, Thomas Alva Edison and Nikola Tesla (the inventor of Alternating Current (AC)) made electricity ubiquitous to society.
The electrical turbines were initially run on coal, then petrol and gas. Local communities used to produce electricity from hydro power and wind, but not at the scale at which it is produced today.

I wonder how people first made energy?
