      There are dozens of different types of engineering. The main ones I can think of are mechanical, biomedical, civil, electrical, electronic, software, chemical, and environmental. There are many more though, that use different aspects of the ones I mentioned. For example an energy systems engineer may use principles from electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering.
