      Hi Katie,

      An engineer is really just another name for a problem-solver.

      Your career is then a series of problems you work on (and hopefully fix). Every problem is different, so your work is always changing.

      Also to be a good engineer, you needs to have a wide-range of skills. You need to be a people person (being able to understand the problem), be a scientist (to develop the solution), be a sales-man (to sell your product/device, or to get investment in for your company).

      Because good engineers are good all-rounders, you’ll find that many engineers end up as managers in companies or owners of their own companies.
