I live in Clarinbridge, County Galway, Ireland and work at the University of Limerick. I have worked in US (LA), UK (London) and Ireland. I almost bought an electric car this year, but I think they are still a bit too expensive.

My Work: I teach Mechanical Engineering at the University of Limerick

I teach Mechanical Engineering at the University of Limerick. I teach Dynamics – to second year students. This subject is similar to Applied Maths, and examines how Newton’s laws can be used to predict how things move. I also teach Fracture Mechanics to students doing a Masters degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering. Fracture mechanics is about how things break and how engineers can predict when something will break – everything will break if we wait long enough, we just need to be able to predict it. I also do research into new materials such as carbon fibre composite materials.

My Typical Day: Prepare for my lecture. Give the lecture. Talk to my PhD students. Read and send lots of emails.
