  The water that comes from rivers and lakes is usually ok but there are a few things dissolved that come from the ground and plants that might not be good for us! There are a lot of processes involved including chemical reactions to remove tiny things in the water! We also use chlorine (you can smell it in public pools) to disinfect the water (kill bacteria). Once the water goes through all these processes, is good to go to your house!
