• Question: do you make robots for a living?

      Part of my job at University is design and development of underwater robots. Our group has made 2 fully working ROVs to date: ROV LATIS and I-ROV.

      I work with underwater remotely operated vehicles and 3D Printers.

      Great question. So the definition of a robot is a machine that can carry out complex or difficult tasks by its self.

      I do make robots as part of my studies but most of them probably dont look like what most people imagine a robot looks like

      Some of the robots have been mini sumo wrestler style bots, timers for working out, robotic arms to help people, and a 3D printer.

      Hey Cian,
      I’m still a student but what I am studying is related to robots. I’m trying to design a robot for kids in hospital to help keep them company while they’re there. Because I’m still developing it though it’s like a toy right now more than anything else!

      I research robots for a living, constantly trying make them better and experimenting with different techniques, reading about what other roboticists have done and sometimes that means making a robot too. Making the robot is by far the best part.
