      Stephen O'Connor answered on 5 Mar 2019:

Yes the people I work with are always interested in what I do. If I learn something new or improve our current understanding of a particular phenomenon, then that can also help in their area of research.
I was recently at a conference (meeting of scientists) in France where I presented some of my results to other scientists that are working on similar things. I also got to see what they are doing and we all learned a lot.
Science is a growing body of information and its success depends on the cooperation and collaboration of all scientists.
Isaac Newton once said: ‘If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants.’
He is saying that the great discoveries he made were made possible by building on the ideas of others.
