0 Question: how do boats not fall over in shallow water Keywords: boat, fall, water Asked by WoodlandEar880 to Bobby, Claire B, Claire C, David, Veasna on 12 Mar 2017.
David Nolan answered on 12 Mar 2017:
A boat has a set minimum depth of water in which it can float. If it sails into somewhere more shallow than that it will run aground and get stuck.
As long as the boat is floating in the minimum depth of water, it will not fall over.
Veasna Sum-Coffey answered on 15 Mar 2017:
As I understand it, big, heavy boats can fall over in shallow water and they run aground. This is why smaller boats that are not as heavy on top will be used to go into shallow water or on land.
