In first and second year you are introduced to the fundamentals soapplied maths and physics, some chemistry maybe and an introduction to materials and electronics. You’ll also learn how to do technical drawing and maybe how to use the heavy equipment- lathes and milling machines etc. By third year you start to learn more specific things, like how to design systems which move or are controlled electronically. If you do biomedical engineering, you will learn anatomy and physiology at this stage and maybe even get to see some surgeries in action. Engineering education usually involves project work and working in teams, and becoming really good with computers, using specialised programs and tools. Remember though, you’ll be taught everything so you don’t need to know things when you start an engineering programme, you just need to be willing to learn!
