My Typical Day: Working for Boston Scientific as an engineer has given me so much opportunity to travel and learn. Although i have a chemistry degree i am, with my engineering masters, fully capable to work as an engineer. on a day to day basis i am building prototype devices with the team and testing them in simulated aortic models. we have made models from computer images of human anatomies, we test our devices in these models. its exactly like an operating theatre in a hospital, except we dont have any blood!

I work alot with promoting science and engineering in ireland and in the EU.
This money would be used as part of Boston Scientific’s education program, this program was just formed last year and its aim is to promote how cool science and engineering are. thinking back from when i was in school, to what i know now, i really didnt have a notion what its like to work as an engineer. every day is so different. We will set up a program where students can come into the factory, see how stents are made, design there own medical device and get hands on experience on what a medical device engineer really does.
