Algae fuel is being made right now by universities and companies around the world, but is not available to the public. It could be available in the future but its unlikely for 2 main reasons.

The first being despite the fact that fossil fuels (petrol, diesel etc.) are running out, there are still plenty of them left (with new amounts being found every day), so there is not a urgent financial need to replace them right now.

The second reason is that algae can be used to make a huge range of products (fuels, food, animal feed, skin creams, makeup, chemicals etc), and fuels must sell for less than 1.50 euro a liter (the same price or less than petrol in a garage) for people to buy them. But if you make chemicals from algae instead, they could sell for more than 10,000 euros a liter. So chemicals are more likely to be made.
