I’m not sure what you mean exactly. Some inventions can come about very quickly – for example if you have an idea for a computer programme (like an Ap on your phone) then it can be made and got working in a few hours.
But most of the inventions I’ve worked on have taken years to bring to the market because they need a lot of development, tests and trials, etc.
Coming up with ideas or inventions can be very fast or very slow. Some ideas hit you suddenly, which i then have to get down on party very quickly so i dont forget. This is very rare though, so doesnt happen often.
Normally ideas come from working on similar projects for a long time, over which your ideas slowly grow to make the process/invention etc work better. This is the normal way engineers get ideas. They learn about a problem and them think up ways to make it better.
Actually making the invention can take from a few weeks to many years depending on what it is and how complicated it is.
