Engineering is a professional career so once you graduate you will start on a yearly salary of €20,000 – 30,000 in Ireland. With some years experience, good performance & hard work, this can go up to anything between €40,000-60,000 per year. Not everyone will get to that level though!

After many years, several engineers will move onto being a manager or project manager over a group of engineers, and will do less engineering work themselves. This could be a higher paying job again, but it uses different skills. Not everyone will want to be a manager.

Katie is right, though I would go a bit higher. Professional engineers can earn over 100,000 Euro, especially people who run their own businesses. But it’s true that to get very highly paid you will normally be working as a manager, supervising other people who are doing the real engineering.

Between 20,000 & 60,000 is normal for pure engineering. While higher pay comes from management, consultancy and/or starting your own business.
