Engineers can be give some very difficult problem to solve (stopping climate change, making clean water, building new limbs etc.) but the difficult problems are normally the most interesting. The harder the problem, the better the feeling when you solve it.
If you study as an engineer, you will a huge amount about a lot of things, which after years in college learning, you want to use as much as possible so difficult problems can be very exciting.
Colin is right – the difficult problems and the ones which are fun to solve, and so make the job worthwhile.
But when you are just starting, or thinking about a career, it can be worrying to think it might be too hard. The thing is, you are trained to do this job. You learn not just facts and information but how to go about solving problems.
So by the time you are given some real problems to solve, you know how to go about it. And there are always other people around that you can ask for help and advice.
