• Question: When my mammy was drying her hair the blow drier exploded. what might have caused this?

      Ouch – that sounds nasty!
      There are several things that can go wrong with hair dryers. The most common thing is that they overheat. There’s a heater inside generating a lot of heat and a fan which has to blow the heat out very quickly. If the fan is not working quite well enough the heat builds up inside.

      If it didnt overheat, like David explained, it could have been knock causing a wire to come loose, shorting out the hairdryer (too much electricity to a place its not wanted) causing it to explode.
