My reasons for getting into this whole programming-thing were the following:
1) Challenge: I just wanted to prove to myself that I could do it even though it seemed hard.
2) Need: I knew I wanted to study at a university and Computer Science seemed like an interesting enough choice. And in order to be able to finish it, it turns out you do need to be able to code (to a certain extent) 😀
3) Fun: maybe not at the very beginning but once I got a bit experience I started seeing the fun side of it. (Puzzles, building new things from scratch etc.)
4) Money: I won’t deny this one either; heard that people who code can get decent salaries which sounded great … hasn’t actually changed much, you can still make great money if you can code. However, I think coding skills will be more and more a must in loads of seemingly unrelated jobs as well…
Thanks for the follow-up question Jordanjackson! 🙂
