      Investigating new things and making them suitable for people usage. Watching people while using what you have invented is really excited, isn’t it?

      The favourite thing about my work is that everyday is very different to each other!
      Some days I need to read a lot (to study how to solve problems), other days I need to plan what needs to be done and how, other days I need to implement my ideas (coding, analysing data, etc.), other days I need to meet with colleagues and discuss ideas o report advancements.

      Being in the laboratory! I get to design my own experiments and hopefully one day create something that can improve the health of people.

      I love talking to people and meeting with people. It’s hard to do at the moment during the Covid pandemic, but I can hold meetings on the computer through Zoom and Teams instead. As an engineer working in a Municipal District, I cover a large geographical area and so I come across lots of different issues and I meet lots of different people. It’s very sociable! It’s also very rewarding to know that the work that I do is helping people and communities. When you turn on your taps to get water, when you drive on roads, when you walk on footpaths…you wouldn’t be able to do any of these things without civil engineers!

      My favorite part is to solve problems. And in my job it is scientific or technical problems.

      I like “growing” materials (e.g. semiconductors for electronics) because that makes me feel I proud of myself when something good is being created by me.
